What’s on in Anchorage?  Summer. That’s what’s on. All day…all night (what little there is!). Don’t you love the photo from our friend Clark Mishler (above)? It’s taken from Flattop Mountain…just a short drive from downtown. It’s a FAVORITE destination for summer hikes. Will we see you there? Visit Anchorage!

Go for a hike in the INCREDIBLE Chugach State Park. HIKE FLAT TOP and take your own photo!! Mountains, rivers, valleys, lakes…with a bunch of trails and access points. It’s the third-largest state park in the country–right in our back yard!

Visit the Anchorage Market. Now on each Saturday and Sunday, the market (at the corner of 3rd Ave. and E St.Enjoy live music, artisan crafts fresh produce, hand-made goodies and all sorts of Alaskana!!

SEE Alaska Native Heritage Center. Actually, you can combine two MUST-SEE destinations: the Heritage Center and the Anchorage Museum. Family-friendly expert Erin Kirkland suggests visiting the Heritage center first, then take the shuttle to the Anchorage Museum. Parking, you know. Be sure and check out “Muse” , the awesome restaurant at the museum. Happy Hour=half-priced appetizers 3-6pm!!

PLUS… Alaska Aviation Museum. On the shores of Lake Hood, this awesome museum features a World War II-era PBY, a restored 1931 Pilgrim Aircraft, a T-6 trainer–even an Alaska Airlines 737. But it’s not just the planes–it’s the stories, too. Check it out!
