Tour the Port of Anchorage. It’s free! Educational! Fun! Hot dogs, too!

We hosted Lindsey Whitt in the studio on Tuesday–and she told us all about the Port of Anchorage. But it’s time for you to see for yourself. Above, one of Totem Ocean Trailer Express’s container ships, the “Midnight Sun”.

Each Sunday, all summer long, the Port of Anchorage is offering F-R-E-E tours. Grab the family and meet ’em at the Alaska Railroad Building (327 W. Ship Creek– the headquarters building, NOT the depot). That’s where the free parking is. From there, you can ride the bus…for a half a mile or less! You have to have government-issued ID and kids under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Hey–if you’ve traveled, chances are good you’ve landed or departed from a port: a sea port, an airport or space port! So, learn about the port in our own back yard. Lots of Anchorage’s goods and services come through the port. It’s a vital link for the military base at JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson). LEARN MORE–CLICK HERE!
