DIP NET! On the Kenai River (Alaska Residents only)

In Airfares, Alaska Travelgram by scott

July 12 was the first day of the annual dip-netting season at the mouth of the Kenai River. This is a great opportunity for Alaska residents to get a bunch of fish in a short amount of time.

Above, #1 son Drew McMurren displays one of the fine fish we dragged in with the net. Would someone tell him NOT to stand on the net? HAHA

Our favorite spot for dip-netting is at Kenai Landing. Whether you want to pitch a tent, drive your RV or launch your boat, Kenai Landing is in a great location. Call (800)478-0400 for reservations.

On the south shore of the Kenai River (across from downtown Kenai), netters have easy access both to beach-netting and the river.

We’re planning a visit to Kenai Landing later this month to stock up on salmon. You should, too.

Here’s the website: www.kenailanding.com . You’ll find prices for several different kinds of rooms (bunkhouse, cabins and traditional rooms). There also are RV sites with or without power.

The restaurant at Kenai Landing isn’t open this year, so come prepared. We’re just packing a cooler with some food, which we hope to load up with fresh red salmon for the drive back to Anchorage! Call (800)478-0400.
