All around Alaska, Gray Line moves travelers around on its fleet of motorcoaches and private train cars. We’ve got some great specials this summer.
But Gray Line also has a couple of great destinations that I love:
a. Portage Glacier Cruises. This cruise is just 54 miles from Anchorage on the way to Whittier. The m/v Ptarmigan sails right up to within 300 yards of the glacier’s face–plenty close to feel the big chunks of ice as they fall off into Portage Lake. This is a great activity while you’re visiting Alyeska Resort! Priced from $29.
b. Gold Dredge #8. Located 10 miles from Fairbanks, this gold dredge is one of the original super-dredges that used to dot the landscape of interior Alaska. There’s a tour of the dredge itself–where you’ll learn about the history and see the process of converting gold “pay dirt” into bars for the assay office. Just $25. This is a fun activity while you’re visiting Fairbanks!
Great new deals from Gray Line of Alaska, including overnight accommodations and round-trip train transportation on the McKinley Explorer private rail car. REALLY–these are good deals.
From Anchorage: Ride the train roundtrip up and back to Denali and stay for one night. The price? Just $289 roundtrip, per person, double. Add one or two extra nights for just $99 per room, per night. That’s plenty of time to take the bus tour into the park and see the wildlife! Take a raft trip. Go for a flightseeing tour!
From Fairbanks, the same package is available for just $199 rt per person, double. In fact, if you want to stay in Fairbanks before or after your tour, the rate is just $59 per night at the Westmark Hotel. Wow!
