I ran into Jody Kirkwood of Kennicott Glacier Lodge this afternoon at Moose’s Tooth–our local pizza joint. She and her husband, Rich, are looking forward to a great summer in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. And she’s invited all of you to share the splendor of the park. Here are some of the deals now available:
Kennicott Glacier Lodge: The “Backpacker’s Special” is a great value. Just $79 per person, double. It includes overnight accommodations and breakfast. Wake up in the heart of old town Kennicott–ready for adventure!
Combine your overnight stay with a two-day adventure package from St. Elias Alpine Guides! It includes a half-day glacier hike, tour of Kennicott’s Mill Building (pictured here), a one-day raft trip and a flightseeing tour over Kennicott and the Root Glacier. Cost is $340 per person.
Wrangell Mountain Air is our official air service in the park! One of the most popular trips is the flight back from Chitina Airport, where the pavement ends. This is particularly valuable if you are driving a rental car. Typically, rentals are not permitted on the McCarthy Road between Chitina and McCarthy.
The good news is the flight is spectacular! Fly over mountain passes, rock glaciers and the occasional unsuspecting mountain goat! Let Wrangell Mountain Air take care of all the details! Below, here’s a picture of one of the budding flowers out on a wilderness pick-up. Choose from several wilderness packages from Wrangell Mountain Air and St. Elias Alpine Guides!
