Just seeing this snapshot of the cockpit on a new 737-900ER makes me want to hop on a plane RIGHT NOW!

BRAG BOARD: Alaska Airlines has been named the #1 on-time North American airline for the SIXTH year in a row!! Also, Alaska Airlines has received the J. D. Power award for the EIGHTH consecutive year for customer satisfaction. J.D. Power also gave the highest marks to Alaska’s Mileage Plan. DETAILS HERE.

Alaska Air is busy making improvements on the planes, too. EXTRA ROOM for carry-on bags. Boeing is making some new overhead bins for Alaska’s planes, so you can turn those rolling suitcases sideways. That means more room for your  carry-on, your Alaska-sized parka and all that jazz. Mind you, it doesn’t mean you can bring the crankshaft or the Christmas tree aboard…it’s just that more travelers will be able to stow their roll-aboard . That’s big!

Also on tap at Alaska, there’s a new BOARD ROOM in Seattle (N Gates). This is just the next step at the North Satellite. They’re working on a ROOFTOP LOUNGE…but that’s not until 2017. Here’s a video of the inside (I’ll post some photos when I see it for myself!!).

COMING SOON: Premium seating on Alaska Air’s 737-800s and -900s. Details are sketchy, but Alaska plans to introduce a section of seats with 35-inch pitch (up from 31-32″ pitch). Also, on these newer aircraft, Alaska plans to increase the pitch in First Class to 41 inches. Drinks, snacks, early-boarding and other extras will be included in this new section. Stay tuned.

Check out this exterior shot of one of the new 737MAX Alaska has ordered. Wow. #IFlyAlaska
