If you have not yet been on the Alaska Railroad’s “Spencer Glacier Whistlestop” tour, you need to make your plans. Check out the video (above). Just go to AlaskaRailroad.com and pick a date. You can ride the train from Anchorage, but it’s fun to drive down the Turnagain Arm from Anchorage to Portage–that way you can stop along the way. Meet up with the train at the Portage Station, about 50 miles south of Anchorage.

Catch the train for the 25-minute ride to the Spencer Glacier station. Then, follow the trail up to the glacier. It’s a great trail with stunning views. What a great way to spend the day. You can even sign up for some ice climbing or rafting! CLICK HERE for all the details!
