Check out Bill Beck’s latest project: Diving Bonaire. Bill is no stranger to diving, having strapped on tanks, a dry suit and some pretty extensive gear (dig the helmet he’s got in his lap, above) throughout Alaska in Cook Inlet, the Pribilof Islands, Dutch Harbor, etc.
But this is different. The water temperature is 78-84º. After all, Bonaire is right off the coast of South America. This will be Bill’s sixth Bonaire diving expedition! Check it out:
Bonaire’s reefs and diverse marine life are unique to the Caribbean, because the waters around Bonaire have been protected by an actively managed marine park for the past 30 years. Bonaire ranks among the top four best diving destinations in the world.
The island’s location in the south Caribbean gives it an arid climate with little rainfall, consequently, the waters are exceptionally clear, calm and a great destination for underwater photographers.
Water temperatures average a warm 78-84°F. I am comfortable in a full 3-2 wetsuit, and although boats are available to charter, I usually stick to the awesome shore diving. I have been back each year for 5 years, truly a diving mecca and a great place to escape to in the winter.
