Double miles ANC-LAX with Alaska Airlines

The Anchorage-Los Angeles flight is a popular summertime route–and double miles makes it oh-so-sweet. To get the double miles, you have to register in advance HERE . Speaking of sweet–dontchya love the new Salmon-Thirty-Salmon design (above)?

Travel between May 24 and Sept. 4, 2012 on the NONSTOP between Anchorage and LAX to qualify.

In case you’re counting miles (who isn’t), it’s 2,340 miles each way between Anchorage and LAX. So with the bonus miles, you’ll earn 4.680 miles each way, or 9,360 roundtrip. Suh-weet!

Remember–you have to REGISTER before your first qualifying flight.

New: Do-it-yourself bag tags at SEA-TAC. Checking your bags just got a little easier at SEA-TAC with Alaska Airlines. “We are committed to making Alaska the easiest airline to fly on and self-bag tagging is another step toward that goal,” says Jeff Butler, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of customer service-airports.

Travelers now can print their own bag tags from a kiosk at check-in process. Then, show ID to the agent before the bag is loaded onto the belt. Alaska plans to introduce the new self-service feature at other airports throughout the summer.

Finally, don’t miss out on the Alaska Airlines Visa card. It’s a great way to earn extra miles (one mile for every dollar spent). But I love the $99 companion pass. And there’s a 25,000-mile bonus for signing up. That’s enough for a free ticket. Well worth the $75 annual fee, in my opinion. That’s why we carry two of the cards, actually.
