Hey–check out this cool plane (above). It’s the “Genie” plane that underscores Alaska Air’s commitment to Make a Wish Foundation. It’s one of several “theme planes” in the fleet. Check out the whole batch HERE.
Check your Club 49 email this morning? Jillions of Alaskans have signed up for the new “Club 49” from Alaska Airlines. And now, the benefits are LIVE: 2 free bags, a couple of “Travel Now” certificates which cuts the price of full coach by 30 percent–and access to the web specials.
You have to be a Mileage Plan member–most of you are. But for a review of the Mileage Plan, check this article I wrote HERE (for the Alaska Dispatch) . To review, there are three key elements to the Club 49 program, including:
a. Two free checked bags when you’re flying to or from Alaska on an Alaska Airlines flight.
b. Two one-way “travel now” certificates valid for a 30 percent discount off of the “YAS” (Full Flex coach) fare for travel to, from or within Alaska. Book travel within four days of departure.
c. Weekly emails for fare sales.
So–let’s get to the weekly specials:
1. Anchorage -Nome $99 ea way
2. Anchorage-Kotzebue $99 ea way
3. Anchorage-Long Beach $219 ea way
4. Juneau-Long Beach $219 ea way
5. Ketchikan-Long Beach $219 ea way
Travel between Nov. 30 and Dec. 13, 2011. Fly ANY day. You MUST purchase no later than Nov. 3, 2011.
If you haven’t done so, poke around the Club 49 site. There’s a section on Community Events around Alaska. But I really like the “History” section of the site. Alaska is entering its 80th year of service here in the Last Frontier–and they’ve put together some great stories. Check out the “Operation Magic Carpet” story. Fascinating.
