Don’t miss this uniquely Alaskan event in Valdez May 6-8, 2011: the annual Valdez Fly-in. The big days are Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and 8.Pilots love it. They’ve all signed up to compete in the flour-bombing event, the short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) event, and the Poker Run. Nice photos by Gary Minish in Valdez give you a taste of the action!
But this is an event for the whole family–aviators and others! Go for a plane ride! See some of the great aircraft up close: the C-130s, the Coast Guard Helicopters and the incredible array of experimental aircraft that come in just for this event!
Speaking of “Family Friendly”, our own Erin Kirkland, co-host of the “Alaska Travelgram” radio show, will be on-site checking out the av-action. They’re flying over on Era Alaska. We’ll wait for her report–but maybe you should just make a POINT to be there! Say “Hi” for us!
There will be aerobatics, RC helicopters, Balsa-wood competitions for the kids, prize-winning raffles and more.
Fly over from Anchorage on Era Alaska, or take the drive over Thompson Pass. Either way–we’ll see you in Valdez, Alaska! Learn more.
