This just in from USTravel in Anchorage: Continental Airlines is ramping up its Anchorage service for the summer. In addition to the carrier’s twice-daily 737-800 flights between Anchorage and Seattle, Continental will resume once-daily 757-200 nonstop service to Houston. Plus, Continental (now part of United)  will pick up United’s nonstops to Chicago, San Francisco and Denver. No mention of Anchorage-Portland.
The new seasonal flights will operate between June 9 and Aug. 28, 2011:
Anchorage-Chicago (737-800)
CO 357 dep. 10:35pm, arr. 5:40am the next day

CO 356 dep. 9:45am, arr. 1:15pm

Check with USTravel at (907) 561-2434 or toll-free (800)544-2217 for fare sales to these and other destinations. Any time an airline announces new routes, look for price cuts either by them (Continental) or by the incumbent carrier (Alaska Airlines). Rhonda just came up with Anchorage-San Francisco: $376.09 roundtrip, all-in!! WOW!
