HOT! Welcome, jetBlue, to Anchorage. On May 26, 2011, jetBlue will inaugurate nonstop service from Long Beach, CA to Anchorage.

To get the party rolling, jetBlue is offering tickets for $119 each way. That’s $274.10 roundtrip, all-in.

The best prices are for travel on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays between May 27, 2011 and June 22, 2011. Weekend travel costs $30 more each way. You must purchase your ticket by Oct. 29, 2010.

Your first bag is free.

The outbound flight leaves Anchorage at 1:10am, arriving in Log Beach at 7:33am. The return flight leaves at 7:40am, arriving at 11:57pm.

Of course, this is just the opening volley in a little spat that is sure to establish Long Beach as the “value leader” for Alaskans seeking all things California. Never mind bringing folks north to the Great Land in the summertime.

Here are some more gems:

Anchorage-Sacramento: $411.50 roundtrip, all-in via Long Beach.
Anchorage-Oakland: $407.50 roundtrip, all-in via Long Beach

Clearly, Long Beach is the focus city–but watch for more fireworks now that the gas is on high. And it’s burning….bright Blue! Here’s a link to the company press release.
