I was on the phone with Rich Kirkwood at Kennicott Glacier Lodge. He’s teamed up with Wrangell Mountain Air and St. Elias Alpine Guides to offer an all-inclusive deal to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. This is an especially good deal if it’s your first time back in the park.

Let me ask you a question: have you been back to Kennicott yet? OMG! What are you waiting for?? Honestly, this is the nation’s largest national park–there’s so much to see and do. VIDEO VIDEO! If you haven’t watched the movies we made out there, check ’em out here. And here.

Kennicott Glacier Lodge is right in the middle of the park. Let’s go over the details of this great adventure package:

a. First, enjoy three nights at the Kennicott Glacier Lodge (main lodge). I love taking my family here when we have friends visiting! There’s a big wood stove in the library–and plenty of comfy chairs. All meals are included–they’re served family style in the main dining room. You can order a sack lunch if you’re headed out for an adventure.

wmab. Flightseeing/transfer from Wrangell Mountain Air. You drive to the Chitina Airport. It’s the end of the paved road if you’re driving from Anchorage, Fairbanks or Valdez. From there, Wrangell Mountain Air will pick you up and fly the last stretch right past glaciers and the awesome peaks of the Wrangell Mountains. The Kennicott folks will pick you up at the airport.

c. Half-day glacier hike with St. Elias Alpine Guides. When you get to the lodge, you’ll notice it’s right alongside a glacier! This is your chance to get out on the ice. Let the pros guide you. You’ll get to wear crampons to get good traction on the ice. Bring your camera. This is a treat!

d. Kennicott Mill Building Tour from St. Elias Alpine Guides. This is the trademark building of the old copper millmining operation. Learn how the ore was transported from the mines and how they processed it for shipping in this 14-story building. Here, the precious ore was crushed, sorted and bagged for transport–first to train cars, then on to Cordova to ship to the smelters. It’s a fascinating process. This is a great tour.

So–the package price is $686 per person, double occupancy. It’s a great adventure package, with plenty of time to explore on your own. Make your plans now. Call (907) 258-2350 or learn more online.
