Stay on the water in Ketchikan at Nicole’s place “Black Bear Inn”

In Destination, Ketchikan, Lodging, Trip Report by scott

“You come on by, Sweetie. Your room is ready,” said Nicole Church, proprietress of the “Black Bear Inn.” Her inn is the only 5-star place on the water in Ketchikan. There are only six rooms, so it’s nice and cozy. Take a walk around the grounds—she and her husband Jim have worked hard to make it beautiful. There’s a covered outdoor hot tub/BBQ area, a lighted walkway down to the beach and a couple of decks to just hang out and watch the water.

Inside, Nicole has a collection of comfy rooms—all with spectacular water views. Nightly rates range from $150-$245 per room per night, based on when you arrive. The cost includes breakfast, wi-fi, parking and use of all the special touches Jim and Nicole have arranged: hot tub, full fridge/freezer, microwave…all that jazz.

We had coffee yesterday in her kitchen. We caught up on all-things-Ketchikan while I ate the last of the Danishes she had set out for guests. HAHA.

“Our pantry is your pantry,” she said, sweepeing her hand around to the well-stocked fridge.

Let Nicole plan out your Ketchikan activities (she knows all the right people). FIshing, flightseeing, hiking, exploring…the works. Check the website for more details: Black Bear Inn.

Jim and Nicole are long-time Ketchikan residents—just the type of friend you want to meet you when you arrive in “The Gateway City”. Call (907)225-4343.
