Weekend in Homer, Alaska

Room with a view. Land’s End Resort.

I never miss a chance to visit Homer—one of the most beautiful towns in Alaska…on the shores of Kachemak Bay What’s your favorite Homer thing? Beach combing? Fishing? Heading across the Bay to Halibut Cove or Seldovia? Last time I took the family on Mako’s Water Taxi for a hike across the bay to Grewingk Glacier.

On the deck at Land’s End Resort in Homer, Alaska

This week it was h-o-t and sunny. After enjoying a tall, cool one on the deck at Land’s End Resort, I went for a stroll on the beach. Later, after visiting friends in town, I visited the Pratt Museum and checked out my favorite bakery in town (Two Sisters).

Land’s End built some new rooms: “Staterooms.” Fancy soaking tubs. Huge picture windows facing the ocean.  Nice little deck to breathe in the sea air. Comfy sitting area to watch the birds, the sea otters and the boats.  Did I sleep with the window open to hear the waves? Yeah. Pretty fancy. Check out the photos.

Hungry? I think Chef Chris killed a whole cow to serve up a big rib-eye at the bar. Prepared on the new “alderwood grill.” Of course, the Chart Room also served us the freshest seafood—heck you can watch them catch it right off of the spit!

I’ll have the Rib-Eye, please. #ChartRoom

Ask for one of the “Staterooms” when you’re making your reservations. Go online or call (907)235-0400. By the way, the  “Getaway” deals kick in around Sept. 19.
