North to Alaska: tools for the ultimate roadtrip

In Adventure, Lodging, Parks, Technology, Trip Report by scott

North to Alaska: it’s a common theme. Way before Johnny Horton sang that Alaska anthem “North to Alaska,” explorers and adventurers have made their way north. I’m exploring  a couple of those routes this week. Check the site: you’ll find three main routes: NorthToAlaska.com . Last week, I sailed on the Alaska Marine Highway system between Haines and Prince Rupert. It was great! Rolled the 4Runner right on board like I knew what I was doing! (Auto-styling by Avis Alaska, btw!) Above, Christy and I head north from Spokane.

This week it’s back up the “Rocky Mountain Route” through Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon and back to Alaska.  Last night we stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Banff National Park (pictured, right). Tonight we’re at the Fairmont Jasper Park Resort in Jasper National Park (pictured, below). The drive between the two spots was EPIC!!!!  It’s a great reason to choose the Rocky Mountain Route.  Let me tell you folks: these are spendy resorts. That’s why I used my Chase “Ultimate Rewards” points.

By the way, the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper is BEAUTIFUL. The lakes and mountains and glaciers are spectacular. Be sure and pick the “Rocky Mountain Route” at NorthtoAlaska.com . Check out the story I did on the trip, which appeared in the Anchorage Daily News!

Is this the year for your #GreatAlaskaRoadtrip ? Let NorthToAlaska.com help!
