Christy and I had the chance to visit the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge, located deep in the heart of Kenai Fjords National Park. Operated by Alaska Wildland Adventures, the lodge is specially-designed to tread lightly in the park. If you have running water, electricity, flush toilets and delicious meals, it’s tough to go all “without a trace”. But company president Kirk Hoessel gave us an up-close look at the engineering and design to offer a light touch: propane-powered generators, minimalistic building techniques to protect surrounding landscape, conservation techniques and much more. The result: a remote experience in a stunning setting. We hiked, paddled and strolled our way around the park like few others. Check out the images here…and check out the lodge: KENAI FJORDS GLACIER LODGE.
