Here’s a little video I put together after traveling to Kaktovik with Northern Alaska Tour Company. This quick-turn daytrip leaves Fairbanks early in the morning. You’re on the ground in Kaktovik in time for lunch at the Marsh Creek Inn. From there, it’s a short ride in the van to the boat. Then, you ride in the boat for about a mile (sometimes longer–depending on where the bears are). The captain beaches the boat–and from that safe vantage point, you can check out the bears. We counted eight bears on the beach–but there were as many as 30 scattered along the barrier islands. Check it out!
