We stopped by, as we do each Wednesday afternoon at 5:00pm, to see the folks at KTVA CBS 11 here in Anchorage. Just wanted to share with viewers more detail on the upcoming flights to Frankfurt and ZUrich for the summer of 2011. Check out the video.

There’s an interesting backstory about how the new carrier, Edelweiss, was lobbied into providing additional air service to Alaska and the Yukon. Stay tuned for more developments on this! Specifically, I expect Edelweiss to drop their prices to be more in line with Condor’s. For example, the lowest price Anchorage-Frankfurt is $817 roundtrip, all-in for travel May 7-21. Compare that to Edelweiss‘s price for their inaugural flight from Anchorage to Zurich: $1,660 roundtrip Anchorage-Zurich (May 30-June 13). Quite a spread! In fact--it’s TWICE the price. Hmmm.
