After flying from Anchorage on Condor to Frankfurt, we switched to Lufthansa and flew to Lyon, the second-largest city in France. High marks on Frankfurt’s airport–and the interface between Condor and Lufthansa. I kept wanting to check out some of the el-cheapo airlines (like Ryanair) in Europe. But the transfer times and airport switch-a-roos kept flubbing me up. In the end, we paid more to fly on Lufthansa, partly because we had an “open-jaw” itinerary: flying into Lyon and back from Paris to Frankfurt. Our fare would have significantly less if we had flown roundtrip Frankfurt-Paris. But it simply did not fit into our plans.
