Sure, you can fly to Iceland to see a volcano–but we have so many right here in Alaska in Katmai National Park! One of my favorites is the mighty Novarupta, which blew its top back in 1912. It covered the valley under hundreds of feet of ash and pumice–creating the Valley of 10,000 Smokes.These days, “Katmailand” is better known for its awesome sportfishing and big bear population.
