Visit your local volcano in Katmailand!

Sure, you can fly to Iceland to see a volcano–but we have so many right here in Alaska in Katmai National Park! One of my favorites is the mighty Novarupta, which blew its top back in 1912. It covered the valley under hundreds of feet of ash and pumice–creating the Valley of 10,000 Smokes.
These days, “Katmailand” is better known for its awesome sportfishing and big bear population.
The good news is the folks at Brooks Lodge, smack in the heart of Katmai National Park, are offering a great web special which includes an extra night at Brooks Lodge. GRAB it–and make sure you get reservations to go on the Valley tour. It’s an all-day proposition–longer if you want to camp in the valley.
Fish the Brooks River. Watch for bears. Explore one of MANY Alaska volcanoes! What a great holiday!
Here’s the special: Between June 1 and June 20, 2010 or between Aug. 10 and Aug. 25, 2010, buy a one-night air/lodging package at Brooks Lodge–and get  an additional night free! The cabins at Brooks can accommodate up to four people–so it makes sense to get some friends together for some fishing, some bear-watching and some hiking in the Valley!!
COST: $931 per person, dbl; $837 per person, trp; $791 per person, quad.
Your flight is included. So are your accommodations. Meals are extra–you can buy them at the lodge. It’s fun to sit around the big fireplace after a full day of adventures!! Also, your Valley Tour is an additional $96 per person. MUST DO MUST DO!!!!! This year, Katmailand celebrates its 61st year of continuous operations. Call ’em up. Tell ’em Scott sent you: (800)544-0551
