DHS Sec’y Janet Napolitano: TSA staff must take yoga

In Alaska Travelgram, Consumer by scott

What a great rumor to start, eh? I think this would be a good idea for our friends at the TSA. Heck–I go to yoga before heading to the airport and I have a better flight.

Over at Laughing Lotus Yoga Studio in Anchorage, owner Svia Rothstein is offering a $2 discount to ANY TSA employee who stops in for a practice. Below, here’s a photo of Svia and I after a yoga class. In addition to the classes themselves, Svia and co-owner Kim have a great selection of yoga clothing and accessories.

I like the Bikram Yoga, taught by Rick Resnick. That’s where they turn the heat up–and you really work up a sweat. Anchorage resident Pam B. wins a free pass to Laughing Lotus because she entered the contest last week! Enjoy your freebie, Pam.

And take a moment the next time you’re at the airport to let your friendly TSA staffer know that they can get a $2 discount over at Laughing Lotus!

Coming up: Yoga Therapy for Women, a five-week Progressive Workshop with Tanya Gonnason Sundays, May 10th – June 7th, 6 – 7:30 PM. Cost: $115
This dynamic, fun and energizing practice incorporates asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), Tibethan techniques for moving energy, mudra (symbolic hand gestures), bandha (internal locks) and guided relaxation.
