NEWS: Petersburg Airport (PSG) to close for repairs

Travelers to Southeast Alaska will have to accommodate the lack of air service to Petersburg this spring, March 23-April 21, 2009. The State of Alaska will be resurfacing the runway after replacing some culverts that run underneath the runway.

In the meantime, the state has contracted with Cruise West and the Interisland Ferry Authority (IFA) to move travelers to and from the Wrangell Airport to catch the Alaska Airlines flights. There is a special website devoted to schedules, phone numbers and FAQs for travelers. The last time I passed through Petersburg was on Alaska’s Marine Highway.
