Unlimited is a wonderful word

…especially when you’re talking cell phones. I’m a big fan of GCI‘s cell phones. With GCI’s unlimited nationwide plan, for $99.99/month, you receive:

a. Unlimited nationwide calling

b. Unlimited texting

c. Unlimited picture messaging

d. Unlimited data (does not apply to Blackberries)

e. Add two lines for $49.99/mo.

GCI‘s cell service is available in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Fort Greely, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna, Kodiak, Nome, North Pole, Palmer/Wasilla, Homer, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Seward, Sitka, Valdez and Wrangell. Of course, you can roam all over the Lower 49–and no extra roaming fees!

Speaking of unlimited, my new favorite toy is my GCI EVDO wireless card for my laptop.

evdo2No more searching for open wireless networks. This slick device hooks into the cell network in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai and Seward. GCI‘s plan is unlimited for use within Alaska. It’s $19.99/mo. if you have GCI‘s cable tv at home.  Out-of-state, the service is more expensive. Still, it’s handy at the airport between flights. Finally, in case anyone wants to know, I’m hooked on my Blackberry. GCI has separate plans for smartphones, specifically for “enterprise class” data packages.
