READERS WRITE: Sailing the Norwegian Coast

In Alaska Travelgram by scott

“I loved every second of this trip on Hurtigruten,” writes Alisa Garrigues. “Worth every penny. I did the Coastal Express route from Bergen to Kirkenes. The food, service, and excursions were great.  They give a polished, professional performance. It was beyond amazing by their attention to detail. You could tell they had been doing this awhile.”

“Our group traveled first to Seattle on Alaska Airlines and from there we used Iceland Air to Reykjavik and on to Bergen. We spent a day totaling around Bergen….the fish market and so many shops, tram up the mountain, Stave church, WWII museum, Troll Museum. From Bergen we boarded Hurtigruten traveling all the way north, stopping at 34 ports—The Coastal Express.”

Norwegian Pride

There were 330 passengers on the trip- Aug 13-19.  Hurtigruten has an app that we checked every morning for the days activities. They make everything very easy  The scenery was spectacular. You could be as active or as chill as you wanted. Food was superb. Norway has 1,700 fjords. Norwegians are pros at bridges, tunnels and boats. And so clean. It was hard to find a garbage can.

“At the end of our boat ride we flew to Oslo on Norwegian Air. The ship we traveled on was the Richard With. From Oslo, our group split up to do individual things: some stayed in Oslo for extra days, one went on to Italy, others stayed over in Iceland on the way home.”
