Congratulations to Alaska Railroad Mini-Quest winners!

“Questers” were out last week in force workin’-on-the-railroad. Some sang songs, others took pictures, while others made elaborate skits to celebrate the mighty Alaska Railroad. It was all part of the “Mini-Quest” for the Ultimate Alaska Adventure!

Gail Marban spies an old railroad engine in downtown Anchorage.

Questers found their favorite railroad bridges. They visited the shiny solid-gold SPIKE which celebrated the completion of the railroad. They dug into the history of the railroad…which goes back more than 100 years!

Go see the Golden Spike at the Anchorage Museum.

Everyone who registered got a prize: a buy-one-get-one-free certificate. We also passed out a couple of grand prizes: a trip for two to Denali and a trip for two to Seward.

A scene from the 100th anniversary of the railroad in Nenana. John Binkley is on the left. John Shively is on the right. An unnamed railroad engineer is in the center, primarily to keep John and John from falling off the train!

Thanks to everyone who played and thanks to the Alaska Railroad for hosting our game!
