Morocco photo collection: Vol. 1

In Alaska Travelgram by scott

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of images from Morocco. But I wanted to give you a taste of what I’ve seen in this amazing country. ABOVE: Standing with my camel tender who, for an additional fee, would take me to Timbuktu on the “Salt Road”. It’s a 52-day trip.

Hungry? We grabbed a few olives from this roadside stand.
The Romans were here. These are columns from the temple at Volubilis, once a city of 35,000.
This is me, holding on for dear life atop a camel.
Smile for the camera.
Our guide, Salem, and his father at their nomadic camp in the Sahara Desert.
The old riad…which is crumbling…on the left. The new one, with the pool, is where we stayed on the way to the desert (long drive).
The riad is built of mud and straw…the key building materials in Morocco.
Making bread at the community oven in the medina of Marrakesh.
A collection of bright shiny things in the medina.
Enjoying “sand coffee” in Marrakesh. We shared some Kaladi Brothers coffee with the proprietor. He liked it (shocker!).
Plaster detail inside the “madras” Koranic school in Marrakesh.

Details to follow!
