Talkeetna-bound? Grab a bite!

If you are looking for a fun weekend getaway with great views and big adventures (like Mahay’s Jetboat Adventure, pictured above), you already know Talkeetna is the place to do it. But, the small town is also the perfect place to spend a weekend eating great food and sampling some of the best craft brews in the state.

Denali Brewing Company produces some of Alaska’s top craft brews, as well as spirits and mead. Their downtown brewpub is always a popular place for dinner, but this year, they opened up a new restaurant at the tasting room on Talkeetna Spur Road. Stop in for tasty flatbreads, pizzas (pictured, top), salads featuring locally-sourced produce and other menu items that pair great with their iconic brews like Twister Creek IPA or Agave Gold.

For upscale dining with a view, hit the deck of the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and the bistro. Seafood, steaks or even just a burger hit the spot after a day flightseeing or jetboating. The deck features a near 180-degree view of the Alaska Range.

Downtown, there are a number of options that feature wood-fired pizzas, baked goods from the Talkeetna Roadhouse (they’re not open for breakfast but are selling baked goods from cooler) and even homemade ice cream.

Spend a day exploring Talkeetna, and bring your appetite!
