Knik River Lodge: Watch the aurora borealis light up the night

Looking to the north from Knik River Lodge

Just got off the phone with Lars Larson, the manager at Knik River Lodge. It’s just 54 miles from downtown Anchorage (m-u-c-h closer to Palmer!) and offers a great venue for watching northern lights.

Lars is opening up the main lodge (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) so you can hang out and see the lights through the big windows. It’s just $15. Lars has beer, wine and some snacks for sale, too. You also can walk out on the deck for an unfiltered view of the lights.

Want to spend the night? It’s $149 per night for one of the cabins. They’re nice cabins, by the way.

Call Lars and make plans to see the northern lights. Tell him I sent you.  Call 907-745-5002 or toll-free at 877-745-4575.

Extra credit if you build an igloo!
