Get #AirFare911 alerts direct to your phone

In Airfares, Consumer, Shopping, Technology, Travel Deals by scott

Many of you follow the h-a-w-t airfares we publish on Twitter (@alaskatravelGRM). Based on your feedback, tho’, we’re adding a channel for those who want the best fares INSTANTLY. Hat tip to my Chief Inspiration Officer, Lorena Knapp, for doing the engineering on this.

Sign up to receive the #AirFare911 fares DIRECTLY to your phone. If you sign up as one of our beta-testers within the next five days (through Wed., Feb. 15), the cost is $5 per month. Here’s the link to sign up:

I send out the bulletins as they come up. For example, I sent one this morning about Honolulu-Osaka for $129 and Honolulu-Kuala Lumpur for $179. Watch for new, lower rates to Seattle and L.A. soon.

When you get the message on your phone, it will include the carrier, the rate, the start-date, etc. But you’ll have to book it on your own. There’s no direct link for that, although sometimes I’ll include a link to the airline.

Of course, if you don’t like the service, you can get your money back.

Other FAQ:

Q: How many text messages will you send?
A: Probably between five and 10 each month, altho’ sometimes there is a flurry of great fares.

Q: Do I have to pay to get the info?
A: No. I still push the good fares out on Twitter and in the newsletter. This $5 premium service is only if you want the fares instantly…on your phone.

Q: Do I have to have a “smartphone” to receive the info?
A: No. Any ol’ dumb phone will do, as long as you can receive text messages.

Other question? Drop me a note at [email protected] . If I don’t know (which probably is the case), I’ll ask Lorena. Or…SHOCKER…you can TEXT me at +1(907)727-1113.
