Photo Gallery: Kenai Fjords Field Trip 2013

In Adventure, Alaska Travelgram, Cruises, Parks by scott

We had a great Field Trip this weekend. It was the inaugural Alaska Travelgram Field Trip–and 28 readers had a great time sailing from Seward with Major Marine Tours out to Kenai Fjords Nat’l Park. As it turned out, Mother Nature had her own ideas. Captain Josh put up a brave fight on the “Glacier Express”–and all of us had manned “general quarters” for the push through the Gulf of Alaska to Aialik Bay. But in the end, the wind and the waves spoke clearly: “Turn around”. We did–and spent the afternoon checking out the sites and the wildlife around Resurrection Bay.

After our Prime Rib-and-Salmon lunch buffet, we sailed back to Seward and strolled over to the Alaska Railroad for our ride back home. It was the first time I’d ridden “Gold Class”. Nice.

I asked our official photographer, Rob Stapleton, to come along and document the “mission”. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
