AVIS: Is that German for go-fast??

In Adventure, Alaska Travelgram, Consumer, Shopping by scott

Great day for a drive in Alaska! Love these fall days. Crisp. Clear. Dry roads (PTL). Now is your chance (in Alaska) to try out some great rides from Avis in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau–even Kenai.

As part of Avis-Alaska’s 50th anniversary, they picked up some hot cars to celebrate, including some Mini-Coopers, some VW Bugs, and some muscular Chevy Camaros.

Whoa. We drove a Beetle. My friend Kevin got one of the Mini-Coopers. And ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM we went down to Homer. Above, a shot of us outside Two Sisters’ Bakery in Homer. Wow. That VW had NO PROBLEM pushing 100mph. J-u-s-t kidding. (Who, exactly, am I kidding??) Kevin was bragging about the Mini’s gas mileage (41mpg). Y-a-w-n.

So–here’s the scoop. Not only can you rent ’em. You can buy ’em. Avis is done celebrating, I guess. It’s back to the Toyota Camrys. That’s what I bought (LOVE my Camry, BTW). Details? Test drive? Call (907)249-8243.
