Day 5 Anchorage Board the Alaska Railroad for a day trip to Anchorage. As you travel along the Susitna River, you may catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. McKinley or a black bear along the banks. Overnight Anchorage.

Mountains, Mines and More!
Check out Wrangell-St. Elias National Park! The largest national park in America is one of the least visited. There are expansive glaciers and 14 of the highest mountain peaks on the continent! Three hundred miles east of Anchorage in a glacier-carved valley deep in the heart of the Park, you will stay at the premier Copper River Princess Lodge and travel to the historic ghost towns of Kennecott and McCarthy. Enjoy gracious hospitality, spectacular views, glacier hiking and scenic flights!
Day 1 Anchorage/Copper Center Your adventure begins in Anchorage as you travel by car north to Copper Center (note: car rental is additional).  Follow the Glenn Highway, a National Scenic Byway, passing by Matanuska Glacier and breathtaking river valleys.  Upon arrival in Copper Center, check into the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge for your overnight accommodations.
Day 2 Copper Center/Chitina/Kennicott This morning continue to Chitina where you will board a scenic flight to Kennicott/McCarthy (you’ll fly over the Root Glacier pictured here).  Upon arrival, transfer to the Kennicott Glacier Lodge for your overnight accommodations.  Enjoy the impressive view of the glacier from the deck of the lodge.
Day 3 Kennicott This morning explore the abandoned Kennicott Copper Mine on an informative historical tour of the area.  Afterwards, explore North America’s largest concentration of glaciers and peaks over 16,000 feet on a half-day glacier hike (no experience necessary!).  Overnight in Kennicott.
Day 4 Kennicott/Chitina/Anchorage Return to Chitina by air in the morning and continue on your journey by car.
